PSL Counselling LLC is owned and operated by Sara Alvarez, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (FL license number MH8461).
Sara completed her Master of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health in 2000 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and an Associates Degree in Clinical Psychology.
She worked for several years as a therapist for youth in the juvenile justice system and for children in a crisis unit (children who were suicidal, bipolar, etc.) where she learned the importance of treating the individual as part of a family.
She then began utilizing family and group therapy in addition to individual therapy with a focus on methods such as goal oriented behavior and cognitive restructuring.
She originally pursued a career in psychology to better understand why we as humans behave in certain ways and to help people change the way they see life.
The message she hopes potential patients would receive is that we as individuals have choices, and those choices depend on our willingness to change. Sara offers counseling sessions in both English and Spanish.
As a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern and children’s behavior therapist (ABA), Janel Valenzuela brings her education and training to help you get better and feel better.
Janel received her M.A. in Psychology and has experience working with clients that have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Anxiety.
Additionally, she is passionate about helping children and families with problem behaviors like physical aggression, and meltdowns associated with the effects of trauma and divorce.
Lastly, Janel believes in building a relationship with each client so that together as a team she can determine how to meet your needs, ,establish realistic goals, and support you in achieving those goals.

Suzanne always had an interest in psychology and human behavior, but entered the field later in life. She obtained a Masters in Social Work from Barry University in 2005 and a Florida Clinical Social Work license in 2008.
Throughout this process, she worked in a variety of settings providing individual and group counseling to adults, couples, children, teens, families and seniors. Her focus is assisting with life challenges such as relationship issues, family conflict, divorce, stress management, transitions, and loss.
She has experience in areas of anger, anxiety, behavioral issues, coping, depression, substance abuse, trauma and grief.
She uses techniques of solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral therapy to achieve both immediate insight and long-term skills. She will work with you in a fair, honest and caring manner. She is motivated by the belief that all behavior has a reason, and change is possible!
Jose Fernandez, Office Manager
Jose is the Office Manager. He is responsible for the day to day office operations. Jose will be speaking to you when setting up your appointments. He also deals with insurance related questions. On his free time you can find Jose Park Hopping with his grand kids.
